Our commitment to the Future

Cooperative Education Statement and Philosophy

EXXCEL Contract Management has chosen to participate in cooperative education programs for the following reasons:

As a leader in the construction industry we feel it is our obligation to offer opportunities for the training and development of college students to develop into industry peers. Whether a competitor or a fellow team member, we feel the emphasis on competency and professionalism can only further our industry.

EXXCEL Contract Management has made the commitment to draw from the finest Engineering and Management schools for our future. We use the co-op program to further evaluate candidates for potential career positions. We feel this process is beneficial for both the student and employer in determining appropriate career decisions.

To fulfill a current need, EXXCEL has committed to hiring co-op students to perform various tasks necessary for our continued growth and success.

Work Assignments

Work assignment shall be congruent with the immediate needs of our organization. Every effort shall be made to expose a student to the widest range of experiences as possible.

The overall Cooperative Education Coordinator is the Human Resource Manager.

The Human Resource Manager will make individual assignments, and a co-op's specific supervisor shall be determined based on the assignment.

Field Operations

The co-op student shall aid the Contract Manager in the construction of commercial buildings. The co-op's responsibilities shall include, but not be limited to: purchasing, daily log preparation, quantity survey, drawing coordination, safety monitoring, scheduling updates, productivity monitoring, project close out and field coordination issues.

Most field assignments are made in the Central Ohio area. Should the assignment require a student to travel, reimbursement shall be made per current EXXCEL policies.

Preconstruction

The co-op student shall be responsible to aid the Preconstruction manager in preparing estimates, schedules, drawings, and proposals. The co-op student will aid in researching new market areas for subcontractor availability, pricing and permit requirements.

Preconstruction assignments will be in our Columbus, Ohio offices.

Research and Development

The co-op student shall aid in the input and creation of various databases. The student shall be involved in the research of methods of improvement, information systems and various other responsibilities.
